SCAMPER is a creative thinking strategy used to help students generate new ideas or improve ideas based off of existing information. The acronym works through a systematic process as a way to encourage students to think creatively about solutions to problems or improving exciting ideas for a concept or scenario.
SCAMPER assists students by helping them consider multiple perspectives and develop a variety of ideas. Questions are posed to students that would not normally be posed--forcing students to think outside the box.

Strategy Steps
1. Identify the idea or a range of ideas groups can choose from. 2. Assign students to small groups and instruct them to think about the idea for their group using the SCAMPER process. Students can use a graphic organizer to record ideas. 3. Instruct groups to evaluate all the creative suggestions and refine their idea. |
